Our preschool programs include Bitty Sports - a great introduction to some basic recreational team sports and designed to promote socialization and basic motor skills.

Bitty Basketball (Co-Ed)| Ages 3-5| Winter Session

Bitty Basketball is a four-week instructional program that introduces the sport of basketball to children ages 3-5. Participants will learn the basics of basketball such as dribbling, passing, and shooting (on age-appropriate goals). Skill development and modified activities will take place each week. The last week of the program will be designated as a scrimmage. Class sizes will remain small to keep kids involved.

Dates: Tuesdays, January 14 - February 11, 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm
          Thursdays, January 16 - February 13, 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm | 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm
Registration: FULL
Fee: $50 (includes t-shirt and award)

These recreational leagues are non-competitive. These programs will emphasize skill development, learning the rules of baseball, playing as a team, and having fun!

Sign up occurs individually, but teammate request will be granted when possible.  Please indicate the teammate request in the registration.  If you are new to NKC sports programs, you will be placed on a team by the NKC Parks and Recreation Staff.  The recreation programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches.  If you would like to help the program by becoming a coach, please contact Will Grefrath at 816-300-0546 or wgrefrath@nkc.org.

Fall Baseball and Softball Small-Sided play!

Step up to the plate this fall with NKC Parks & Recreation’s Fall Baseball & Softball League! This season, we’re introducing an exciting small-sided game format designed to maximize player development, engagement, and fun.

Each game features three teams rotating through batting, infield, and outfield, with 5-6 players per team. This keeps players actively engaged and ensures more touches, reps, and opportunities to develop their skills.

Coach pitch is our next division for baseball and softball.  Players will learn to hit the ball as it is being pitched from a coach and cooperate as a team to earn runs and outs.  The primary goal is to prepare your child for the next level of play. 

Guaranteed a minimum of 6 games on Friday evening/Saturdays Mornings. Baseball and Softball leagues available. All games will be held at Macken Park.

Registration: June 12-July 25th
Games begin Week of September 5th
Fee: $95 (includes t-shirt and award)

Kid Pitch Baseball or Softball is the final step in our recreation program.  This program will prepare the players for a more competitive style of play.  Players are introduced to pitching from other players and learn to incorporate their batting, throwing, and fielding skills.  Your child will completely understand the essence of baseball and softball after completing the season. 

Guaranteed a minimum of 6 games on Friday evening/Saturdays Mornings. Baseball and Softball leagues available. All games will be held at Macken Park.

A refund can be requested up to two weeks from the start date of league practice (May 1st). The refund will be 75% of the total paid registration fee. NO refunds will be made after the two week period.

North Kansas City Parks and Recreation youth soccer leagues are non-competitive.  The league will emphasize skill development, learning the rules of soccer, playing as a team, sportsmanship on and off the field, and most importantly having fun!  Separate age and gender divisions (if possible).
