Friday Greetings,

After 7 years of service with North Kansas City, City Administrator Eric Berlin retired on July 2.  Mr. Berlin has been part of many of the City’s accomplishments including the continued progress of Northgate Village, One North, Master Plan update, Zoning Ordinance update, renovation of the City’s Water Treatment Plant, construction of Dagg Park, the Community For All Ages program, NKC Fire Department’s ISO 1 rating, the Armour Road Gateway project, and many more.  The NKC staff would like to thank Eric for his leadership, support, and mentorship over the years.  We will miss you, and wish you well in your retirement! 

The City Council has appointed Assistant City Administrator Kim Nakahodo as the Interim City Administrator effective July 3, 2021.  Ms. Nakahodo will service in this role until the Council appoints a new City Administrator.  

A special reminder as we celebrate Independence Day – it is unlawful for any person to keep, sell or use fireworks in North Kansas City.  To report illegal fireworks, please call the police non-emergency line at 816-274-6013.

City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5 in observation of Independence Day. 

Julie Summa will start on Tuesday, July 6 as a Communications Officer in Dispatch.  Welcome aboard!

Tyler Merrigan will start on Monday, July 26 as a Maintenance Worker with Municipal Services.  Welcome aboard!

Help for local families struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic is available through a program being administered by Clay County. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program can help families who rent their homes get caught up on past due rent and utility bills.  If you are eligible, make sure to fill out an interest form by clicking the button on our Rental Assistance Portal, which can be found here: https://www.claycountymo.gov/transparency/erap.
