Friday Greetings,

Beginning June 14, 2021, all City Council and board and commission meetings will return to pre-COVID format where all members, liaisons, applicants, presenters, and the public appear in person.  At its meeting of June 1, 2021, the City Council directed that all attendees would be required to wear masks during in person public meetings.  However, early on its June 15 meeting agenda the City Council will reconsider this requirement.  Unless and until the City Council changes the current requirement, attendees at the meeting should plan to wear a mask.  (If the mask-wearing requirement is retained, masks will not be required for those with disabilities or special health needs.)

As always, City Council and Planning Commission meetings will be broadcast and streamed live on Channel 2, the City of North Kansas City’s YouTube page, and our website at www.nkc.org/live.

After 23 years of service with the North Kansas City Police Department, Communications Supervisor Linda Alvarez retired on June 10th.  Supervisor Alvarez had been the supervisor of the Communications Unit since 1998.  The Communications Unit’s main responsibility is answering all incoming 911 and administrative calls and dispatching the appropriate Police, Fire, and EMS resources within North Kansas City.  Before her employment with North Kansas City, Linda worked as a dispatcher/ call taker for the City of Kansas City for 5 1/2 years.  We will miss her years of knowledge and experience and wish her well into her well-earned retirement.

Beth Buffington has been promoted to the Communications Supervisor in Dispatch.  Congratulations!
