Friday Greetings,

On Monday, Becky Taylor was promoted to Municipal Court Clerk.  Becky has been with the City for over 20 years and has served as a backup clerk to the Municipal Court for over 5 years. Congratulations Becky!

In response to updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and improvements in local case, hospitalization, and vaccination rates, the Clay County Public Health Emergency Order expired today at noon.  https://bit.ly/3hniqdv  Anyone who is not fully vaccinated should continue to take precautions such as wearing a well-fitted mask, staying six feet or more from those they don't live with and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces. Businesses and organizations may still choose to require certain COVID-19 precautions, such as masking or physical distancing, in a manner they deem most appropriate to protect staff and customers. Clay County Public Health Center's guidance to schools remains the same.

Residents, business owners, and visitors are invited to provide feedback on the City’s current economic development process in writing by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 16.  These comments will be shared with the City Council and will be posted on the City’s website no later than the close of business on Monday, May 17.  On Tuesday, May 25, the City Council will hold a virtual Special Council Meeting to discuss the City’s current development process.  This meeting will be live-streamed on the City’s Spectrum Cable Channel 2, the City’s YouTube Channel, and on www.nkc.org/live.  Public comment will not be taken during the virtual Special Council Meeting, but residents, business owners, and other stakeholders are invited to review the City Council Work Session videos on the City’s Master Plan and development process and provide feedback regarding the future of the City’s development process.  To access the City Council Work Session videos focusing on the City’s Master Plan and development process, and to provide feedback for City Council review, please visit www.nkc.org/ED.

The Citywide Garage sale will proceed as scheduled for this weekend.  Should it rain on Saturday, May 15, residents may hold their garage sale the following Saturday, May 22.

Municipal Court will be closed the week of May 24-28 to allow staff to attend State training.
