The next City Council election in North Kansas City will be April 7, 2026.
FILING FOR ELECTED OFFICE
Filing for the April 7, 2026, Municipal Election will begin on Monday, December 9, 2025, at 8 a.m. in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 2010 Howell Street, and will close on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 5 p.m. Please note that City Hall will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24, and will be closed all day on December 25 and 26. The April 7, 2026, election will include one Councilmember from each of Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. The following positions are up for election this year:
Ward 1: Councilmember 2 year term
Ward 2: Councilmember 2 year term
Ward 3: Councilmember 2 year term
Ward 4: Councilmember 2year term
CITY COUNCIL
Councilmembers must be at least twenty-one years of age prior to taking office, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant of the city for one year preceding the election, and a resident of the ward from which he/she is elected six months preceding the election. Councilmembers represent the interests of their constituents and citizens in matters before the City. City Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month, and begin at 6 p.m.
CANDIDATE FILING
Anyone interested in running for a City office must present to the City Clerk’s office in person to complete Candidacy forms. You should bring a photo ID and there is a $5 filing fee. If you have any questions, please contact Crystal Doss, City Clerk, at 816-412-7815.
