The goal of the North Kansas City Source Water Protection Plan (SWPP) is to ensure the long-term sustainability and purity of our community's drinking water. We are committed to implementing a comprehensive Source Water Protection Plan. This plan focuses on safeguarding our water sources from contamination, promoting sustainable land-use practices, and fostering collaboration among local stakeholders. Our goal is to protect public health, support ecosystem resilience, and secure a reliable supply of clean water for future generations. By prioritizing proactive measures, education, and community involvement, we aim to create a resilient and sustainable water management system that upholds the highest standards of environmental stewardship.

Source water protection is an important component of a multi-faceted approach – along with
effective treatment, distribution, and monitoring – to provide high quality and reliable drinking
water to the public. The City's Source Water Protection Plan (SWPP) has been developed in accordance with applicable regulations as part of an overall program to continue to provide reliable drinking water to our customers. The program involves identifying potential risks that could impact the
drinking water supply and seek to manage those risks, when possible, to maintain supply quality
and quantity.
