The NKC Citizens Academy is a 10-week program open to residents.  The Academy is an exciting opportunity to learn more about your City. Participants will:

• Meet City Councilmembers, department heads, and City staff.

• Learn how decisions are made, how funds are allocated, and how departments operate.

• Enjoy comprehensive overviews of departments, programs, and services.

• Learn more about the City's future plans.

• Tour City facilities.

• Learn how to get involved as a board or commission member

Registration for the Spring/Summer 2026 Academy is OPEN!  We are accepting interest forms for a potential spring session.  If you would like to fill out an application for a Spring 2026 Session, click here. 

The Spring/Summer Academy begins on Thursday, April 16, and meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6-8(ish) p.m.  Participants will graduate from the Academy at the Tuesday, June 16, City Council Meeting.
