NKC Parks & Recreation is excited to kick off Friday Night Concerts next weekend! On Friday, July 10 from 7pm to 9pm featuring funk band, Jamogi and the Jammers.   

On July 24, NKC Parks & Rec's summer movie series, Movies at Macken, will show their second movie. The featured movie will be A Bugs Life. Join us before the movie to enter our raffle featuring movie-themed prizes.

 On Wednesday, Sparky and Engine 905 stopped by The Rabbit hOle for a fun community event where young readers enjoyed the classic "Fire Cat" before meeting Sparky, exploring the fire truck, and learning a little about fire safety along the way. We always enjoy opportunities to connect with our community—especially our youngest fire safety fans!

Introducing a brand-new opportunity for North Kansas City's youth! We are excited to launch the NEW Youth NKC Citizens Academy—a fun, hands-on program designed to help young residents learn how their city works and discover ways to become active community leaders. Participants will go behind the scenes with City departments, meet local leaders, experience mock City Council and Municipal Court activities, learn about public safety, and develop leadership and civic engagement skills. Session 1 (Ages 8–12): July 20–23, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Session 2 (Ages 13–17): July 27–30, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants must be the qualifying age at the time of the session. It’s block party season! A block party is a great way to celebrate and encourage stronger communities. North Kansas City residents may apply for a grant to host a neighborhood block party. Each grant will reimburse eligible expenses up to $400 per event.
