Friday Greetings,
- On Friday, April 10, Sgt. Chanda Harmon graduated from the 16th session of the Missouri Command College. The Command College is a partnership between the Missouri Police Chiefs Association and Lincoln University. Sgt. Harmon is now the eighth member of the Police Department to graduate from this prestigious program. Many of the graduates have used this program as a jump start to complete their master’s degree.
- Congratulations to Anthony Saper, Lyndsey Magrone, Linda Alvarez, and Synthia Larson on their election to the NKC City Council. We look forward to their leadership and service to our community. We also extend our sincere thanks to Rita Pearce and Yvonne Salinas for stepping forward to run for office. Their willingness to serve reflects a strong commitment to our community. The new Council will be seated at the Tuesday, April 21 City Council Meeting.
- Mayor Smith is seeking interested parties to fill a vacant City Council seat in Ward 4. This is the seat vacated by Councilmember Clarke, and it will have a term of 1-year. If you would like to serve in this role, and you have lived in Ward 4 for one year or more, please send an email to mayor@nkc.org with answers to the following questions by 4/14/26:
- Why do you want to serve as a member of the City Council?
- What skills, experiences, and/or perspectives do you possess, which will be beneficial to the City Council?
- Anything else you would like to share?
- What is your street address? (to validate eligibility)
Also, attach a resume to the email, if you have one available. Mayor Smith hopes to review applications, interview qualified applicants, and have his nomination ready for the 4/21/26 Council meeting.
