Friday Greetings,

  • Jacob Winger graduated from the Regional Police Academy on Thursday, March 12, and was sworn in as a Police Officer for the City of North Kansas City. Officer Winger will start his field training program on Saturday.

     

  • Snake Saturday is TOMORROW, Saturday, March 14!  Snake Saturday offers fun for the whole family, including a carnival, parade, and specials from our local businesses.  For more information, visit https://snakesaturday.com/.

  • Please join The Firefighters Community Service Organization as they host their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 14, from 8-11 a.m. at the North Kansas City Fire Department. All proceeds benefit the service organization.

     

  • The NKC Police Department would like to provide a few quick tips for a smart and safe Snake Saturday:
    • No open alcoholic containers in public.  Violators will be ticketed.
    • You must be 21 years old to drink in bars and restaurants.
    • You cannot smoke marijuana in public areas, including the parade route.  Violators will be ticketed.
    • Stay behind the green-painted line along the parade route.
    • Report lost children to the information booth at the carnival and/or the Police lobby.

     

     

  • Join the NKC Library for St. Patrick’s Day-themed stories, activities, and crafts on Monday, March 16, from 10-11:30 a.m. Registration is required: https://www.nkcpl.org/event/lucky-day-preschool-program-2898

     

  • The Tim C. Crummett Family Charitable Fund Projects Committee is seeking an NKC artist to help bring Civic Canvas to life—our new community art project transforming utility boxes along Armour Road and at 18th & Swift into vibrant public art!  For more information and to apply, please visit www.nkc.org/our-city/public-art. Applications are due at Noon on Friday, March 20.  We can’t wait to see your vision for Civic Canvas!

     

  • We are excited to announce that the inaugural Northtown Supper will be on Monday, March 23, from 6-8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at the NKC High School! Northtown Supper is a welcoming, pay-what-you-can community meal for North Kansas City residents. Whether you’re new to the community or have lived here for years, this is a chance to connect, build relationships, and enjoy a community meal in a relaxed, friendly setting. All residents are invited, and all are encouraged to come as they are—pull up a chair and build a stronger, more connected Northtown. Seats are limited, and registration is required—reserve your tickets at https://NorthtownSupper.eventbrite.com. Kids are welcome and encouraged! Please secure a ticket for each member of your party. Donation/Pay-What-You-Can options will be available at the check-in desk. Funds will be used to offset the cost of the meal.

     

  • The NKC Candidate Forum will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 6-7 p.m. The Forum will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers and will be broadcast and available on our YouTube channel.  Residents can attend in person, watch live, or watch later.  NKC High School debate students will facilitate the Forum.  Questions can be emailed to city@nkc.org or dropped off at City Hall.  We may not be able to address all the questions, but the debate students will try to incorporate as many as they can into the Forum.

     

  • Applications are officially open for the 10th Annual Arts in the Park Festival in North Kansas City at Macken Park. Applications are available at www.artsinthepark.org/apply. Application deadline is Sunday, March 29, at 11:59 p.m.

     

  • NKC Parks Summer Youth Baseball & Softball registration is open! Youth baseball and softball leagues are non-competitive and focus on skill development, learning the game, teamwork, and fun.   • Join the NKC Library for a hands-on Make Your Own Birdhouse program on Saturday, April 4, from 10-11:30 a.m.! Builders of all ages are invited to assemble and decorate their very own wooden birdhouse to take home. We’ll provide all the supplies you need—just bring your creativity!
