- Hear ye, hear ye! We challenge YOU to take the Clay County 250 Citizen Challenge! The 250 Citizen Challenge is a practical, positive program that helps people build stronger civic habits step by step—learning, serving, and showing up. Participants earn points for completing simple, everyday civic tasks—like reading a founding document, attending a public meeting, helping our community, or writing a letter. - Please join The Firefighters Community Service Organization as they host their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 14, from 8-11 a.m. at the North Kansas City Fire Department. T-shirts will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the service organization.
- We are excited to announce that the inaugural Northtown Supper will be on Monday, March 23, from 6-8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at the NKC High School! Northtown Supper is a welcoming, pay-what-you-can community meal for North Kansas City residents. Whether you’re new to the community or have lived here for years, this is a chance to connect, build relationships, and enjoy a community meal in a relaxed, friendly setting. All residents are invited, and all are encouraged to come as they are—pull up a chair and build a stronger, more connected Northtown. Seats are limited, and registration is required—reserve your tickets at https://NorthtownSupper.eventbrite.com. Kids are welcome and encouraged! Please secure a ticket for each member of your party. Donation/Pay-What-You-Can options will be available at the check-in desk. Funds will be used to offset the cost of the meal.
- The NKC Candidate Forum will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 6-7 p.m. The Forum will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers and will be broadcast and available on our YouTube channel. Residents can attend in person, watch live, or watch later. NKC High School debate students will facilitate the Forum. Questions can be emailed to city@nkc.org or dropped off at City Hall. We may not be able to address all the questions, but the debate students will try to incorporate as many as they can into the Forum.
- Save the Date! The City invites the public to attend an Open House for the North Kansas City Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, funded by the USDOT’s SS4A program, on Tuesday, March 10, from 5-7 p.m. at City Hall (2010 Howell St.), with formal presentations at 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. This drop-in event will share how community input and safety data shaped the plan, highlight targeted strategies to improve roadway safety for all users, and provide an opportunity to offer feedback. Public input gathered will be used to refine the Action Plan, which aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
- The City of North Kansas City is entering a new permit cycle under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II MS4 stormwater program, which continues the City’s existing stormwater quality efforts. The City will submit an application for coverage under the Missouri Department of Natural Resources General Permit MOR04C by April 3, 2026. As part of the Permit requirements, a public comment period is required to gather community feedback. - The City of North Kansas City is pleased to extend the opportunity for businesses to apply for a grant through the Streetscape Beautification Program. This City program was created to help beautify our town by matching funds for projects located along streets or highway rights-of-way. The City will offer matching grants of up to $5,000, paid on a reimbursable basis. Applications must be submitted by April 15, 2026, with a project completion date of September 1, 2026.
