  • Celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 12, from 10-11:30 a.m. with a sweet and sparkly storytime made just for preschoolers! Join the NKC Library for heart-themed stories, crafts, and playful activities that encourage kindness and creativity. Kids can make their own valentines, explore sensory stations filled with reds and pinks, and join in joyful movement games perfect for little learners.  Registration required at www.nkcpl.org/event/preschool-valentines-party-2887.

     

  • The NKC New Neighbors Committee is hosting our first neighborhood happy hour next month at The Commons at Cinder Block Brewing on Thursday, February 12, from 6-8 p.m.  Come meet your neighbors and support a local business!  Want to join?   • The City of North Kansas City is pleased to extend the opportunity for businesses to apply for a grant through the Streetscape Beautification Program.  This City program was created to help beautify our town by matching funds for projects located along streets or highway rights-of-way.  The City will offer matching grants of up to $5,000, paid on a reimbursable basis.  Applications must be submitted by April 15, 2026, with a project completion date of September 1, 2026.  More information and the application can be found at www.nkc.org/government/departments/public-works/streetscape-beautification

     

  • Join Mayor Smith for a NorthTown Hall on Tuesday, February 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the NKC Parks & Recreation Center.  NorthTown Halls are open forums for all community members to attend and ask any questions. 

     

  • Whether you’re new to North Kansas City or have lived here your whole life, our new Resident Guide is designed to help you connect with the many resources available in NKC. Printed copies are available at City Hall and will be available next week at the Parks & Recreation Center and the NKC Library.   • MoDOT KC will host an open-house style public meeting for the I-29/35 bridge replacement project on Thursday, February 26, from 4–6 p.m. at the NKC Parks and Recreation Department, 1201 Clark Ferguson Drive. The project covers Interstate 29/35 in the Kansas City metro area north and south of the Bond Bridge in Clay and Jackson counties, and attendees may drop in to ask questions, learn about the project, and provide comments (no formal presentation). A self-guided virtual presentation will also be available starting at 4 p.m. on February 26 on the project webpage (www.modot.org/projects/i-29i-35-viaduct-bridges-replacement-project-jackson-and-clay-counties), and an online survey will be open until March 12, 2026, at 4 p.m.

     

  • Applications are officially open for the 10th Annual Arts in the Park Festival in North Kansas City at Macken Park. Applications are available at www.artsinthepark.org/apply. Application deadline is Sunday, March 29, at 11:59 p.m.
