Friday Greetings,
- The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area, with expected snow accumulations between 5-7 inches. On Friday, January 23, 2026, at 5 p.m., Municipal Services crews will place mobile Emergency Snow Route/No Parking signs on both sides of Armour Road between Fayette and Linn Streets. During a declared snow emergency, vehicles are prohibited from parking on Armour Road between Fayette and Linn Streets. All parked vehicles must be moved from Armour Road between Fayette and Linn Streets by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. Parking may resume once the snow emergency has been deactivated. The City will announce the activation and deactivation of the emergency snow route on its website, Textcaster, and social media channels.
- Bitter cold weather is expected this weekend, beginning Friday and lasting through Monday. Now is the time to take action to prevent frozen pipes:
- Let faucets drip slightly to keep water moving.
- Open cabinets under sinks to let warm air circulate around pipes.
- Keep the thermostat consistent, even at night.
- Insulate exposed pipes outside and in unheated areas like basements or attics.
- Seal drafts around windows and doors to keep the cold out.
- KCATA has issued a rider bulletin stating that they will continue operations throughout the storm, but there may be delays in service. They encourage passengers to dress in warm clothing and to use their bus tracking options to avoid prolonged exposure.
- Applications are officially open for the 10th Annual Arts in the Park Festival in North Kansas City at Macken Park. Applications are available at www.artsinthepark.org/apply. Application deadline is Sunday, March 29, by 11:59 p.m.
- The North Kansas City Police Department invites community members to participate in a blood drive on Friday, January 30, from 1-5 p.m. at Parks & Recreation. Donating blood is a simple yet powerful way to support local hospitals and help save lives. We encourage those who are able to join us in this meaningful effort to give back to our community.
