Friday Greetings,

  • The resident-led Ad Hoc Committee is hosting a free Home Composting Workshop on Saturday, November 8, 10 a.m. in the Festival Shelter at Macken Park.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

  • A resident-led NKC Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (NKC BPAC) will be hosting a Community Walk Audit on Sunday, November 9, from 1-3 p.m.  The walk begins at Starbucks (1930 Diamond PKWY).  To register, visit bit.ly/walk1109.

  • On Monday, November 10, Thyme Brown will start as a Firefighter/EMT.  Welcome aboard!

  • Mark your calendars for North Kansas City Parks & Recreation’s 8th annual Mistletowne Market. This small and thoughtfully curated artisan holiday market will be filled with local fine art and maker goods. The perfect destination to pick up one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones. In addition to the market, you will find baked goods for purchase from our North Kansas City Seniors, live musical performances, and more. Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, November 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • This year marks the eighth year of North Kansas City Parks & Recreation’s Feel the Warm Project, which provides scarves, hats, and gloves to anyone in need of a little extra warmth during the winter season. Community donations make this project possible. They are still accepting handmade or store-bought (with tags) hats, gloves, and scarf donations through Wednesday, November 19.

  • Warm up with your North Kansas City Police Department at Cocoa with the PoPo on December 15, from 9-11 a.m. at the North Kansas City Starbucks (1930 Diamond PKWY)! Join us for a cozy cup of cocoa and casual conversation with local officers. This is a great chance to ask questions, share thoughts, and connect with the officers who serve our community — no agenda, just good company and warm drinks!
