WIR 9/5/25

The City publishes Week in Review (WIR) weekly to inform the community about local news.

Post Date:09/05/2025 2:13 PM

Friday Greetings,

  • Significant progress has been made on the North Kansas City Public Safety Memorial, a project that will honor NKC Police and Fire personnel who gave their lives in service to our community. This lasting tribute will provide a place of reflection and remembrance for the bravery and sacrifice of those who protected North Kansas City. Details about a dedication ceremony will be shared once the memorial is complete.

  • The North Kansas City Comprehensive Safety Action Plan project is in full swing, and we need your input! Please take a few minutes to complete our survey and help us make NKC streets safer for everyone. Scan the QR code on the attached flyer or visit www.nkc.org/safestreets to share your thoughts.

  • NKC Parks and Recreation invites artists and makers to apply for the 8th Annual Mistletowne Market. A small and thoughtfully curated artisan holiday market filled with local fine art and maker goods! Applications are open now through Sunday, September 28. Apply today at www.artsinthepark.org/apply.

  • It’s block party season!  A block party is a great way to celebrate and encourage stronger communities.  North Kansas City residents may apply for a grant to host a neighborhood block party.  Each grant will reimburse eligible expenses up to $400 per event.  For more information on how to apply for a permit for a block party, please visit https://www.nkc.org/our-city/register-to-for/neighborhood-block-party-grants.
