- Adventure Awaits at Macken Park is this weekend! Join us for a free scavenger hunt at Macken Park in celebration of Parks and Recreation Month. The event takes place on Sunday, July 27, from 2-6 p.m. at the Festival Shelter. Enjoy an afternoon of fun clues, local history, and outdoor adventure. - In partnership with the Clay County Public Health Center, the North Kansas City Fire Department has installed a free Narcan and Fentanyl test kit vending box at the North Kansas City Public Library. This effort aims to make life-saving tools more accessible in the event of a suspected opioid overdose. Each Narcan kit includes two doses of nasal spray (naloxone). If you suspect someone is experiencing an overdose:
- Lay the person on their back.
- Try to wake them by shaking them and shouting.
- If there is no response, administer one dose of Narcan in the nose.
- Call 911 immediately.
- If there is still no response after 2–3 minutes—and EMS has not yet arrived—you may administer the second dose.
- Inform emergency responders how many doses were given.
