- Candidate filing began on Tuesday, December 6, at City Hall. This year’s election is for one Councilmember from Wards 1 and 2, along with two from Wards 3 and 4 (1-year, and 2-year terms). Below is a list of the people who have filed as a candidate for elected office in the April 4, 2023, election. Candidates are listed as they are filed. Filing closes at 5 p.m. on December 27, 2022. The order that the names will appear on the ballot is determined by a lottery drawing which the City Clerk will complete after filing has closed. - This week, Craig Greco, with Greco Paintworks, completed a mural at the Police Station as a tribute to Officer Daniel Vasquez. Officer Vasquez had always mentioned how this vast wall needed some type of artwork. We appreciate Mr. Greco’s artistic talent along with the time and dedication he put into this project.
- The fall class of the NKC Citizens Academy graduated at a special ceremony at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 6. Staff will be establishing the Citizens Academy spring schedule soon; for more information, visit www.nkc.org/academy.
- Kids won't want to miss all the wonderful fun at Winter Wonderland this weekend! The first 100 kids, 12 and under, will enjoy crafts, games, cookie decorating, a hot chocolate bar, prizes, and more on Saturday, December 10, from 1-3 p.m. at the North Kansas City Parks & Recreation Center! We’ll even have a reading corner for Santa to read to the kids and take pictures. Fun and free for the whole family!
- Please join us as we celebrate the completion of the Downtown Streetscape Project with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, Tuesday, December 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the corner southwest corner of Armour and Swift. Complimentary coffee, hot cocoa, and tea will be served by locally-owned Snow & Roast.
