Mission Statement

PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
MISSION STATEMENT

The North Kansas City Parks and Recreation Board is committed to providing the residents and business community of North Kansas City with the best possible environment for family recreation and leisure time enjoyment.

  • Providing: We are committed to providing a wide variety of leisure facilities and services.
  • Promoting: We are committed to promoting organized recreational and social programs for all ages.
  • Encouraging: We are committed to encouraging public utilization of park facilities. We will cooperate with any civic or recreational group to maximize this commitment.
  • Maintaining: We are committed to maintaining our park facilities in the best possible condition.
  • Communicating: We are committed to keeping the public informed of plans and activities and to respond to users' suggestions and criticisms.
  • Developing: We are committed to a continuous program of upgrading and expanding programs and facilities as funds permit.

The primary source for outdoor activity in North Kansas City is Macken Park. The picnic facilities, walking trail, tennis courts, ballfields and playgrounds are some of the most popular facilities of their kind found in the Northland. The Parks and Recreation Board has teamed with the City Council to bring improvements to facilities in the park. These improvements include a new playground area, improved ballfield lighting, a refurbished tennis facility and an asphalt parking lot. Macken Park is user friendly!
