PATROL COMMANDER
Major Steven Beamer
Steve Beamer joined the North Kansas Police Department in 1978, after graduating from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice Administration. During his career, he has served as patrol officer, traffic officer and detective. In 1986 Steve was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 and worked in the Patrol Division. In 1994 he was promoted to Division Commander and has served as the commander of the Support Services Division, Investigations Division and currently serves as Commander of the Patrol Division. Major Beamer is a graduate of the 184th Session of the FBI National Academy and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Park University. In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Metro Tactical Officer’s Association.
SUPPORT SERVICES COMMANDER
Major Jesse McLendon
Jesse McLendon began his Law Enforcement Career in 1968 as a Communications Officer with the City of Riverside, Missouri. In 1972 McLendon joined the North Kansas City Police Department, after working with the Police Departments in Platte Woods and Lake Waukomis, Missouri. During his career with the North Kansas City Police Department, McLendon has served as patrol officer and detective before being promoted to Sergeant in 1986 and then to the command level in 1990, where he has commanded the Investigations Unit, Patrol Unit and currently heads the Support Services Unit. In addition, McLendon worked with the former Kansas City Metro Drug Unit and the Clay County Investigative Squad and currently serves on numerous regional oversight committees that are coordinated by the Mid-America Regional Council.
McLendon is a graduate of the Hauptmann School of Public Affairs of Park University, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs, in which he has been actively teaching for the past twenty years. Major McLendon is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI’s Central States Law Enforcement Executive training program.
