Friday Greetings,

Due to the high groundwater levels in the Paseo Industrial District, repairs of the sinkholes were delayed until this week. Hydrostatic pressure from the high river level caused e seven sinkholes, which were created by breaks in the storm sewer pipes located below the streets. Storm sewer repairs and street restorations will continue next week.

Public Works crews have installed a set of new temporary bump-outs on Howell Street at the intersections of Clark Ferguson, 29th Avenue, and 31st Avenue. The bump-outs feature painted markings, flex posts, and signage to narrow the traffic lane to 11 feet in order to calm traffic and provide safer crossings for pedestrians. In two locations next to Macken Park, the bump-outs will accommodate new bike racks. The bike racks are ordered and should be placed at the end of the month.

Artist Brew Lamb began painting the first Tim C. Crummett Family Charitable Fund Public Art Mural on the north wall of the Brewkery, 1425 Swift, this morning. Residents and visitors are welcome to watch Brew paint the mural – named ‘This is Us’ – this afternoon or tomorrow in conjunction with Second Saturday events in North Kansas City.
