Friday Greetings,

In response to the global Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the City Council voted to amend and extend Mayor DeLong's mask order until 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022.  The Order now includes school buildings K-12.  Masks are only required inside a school building where any students from kindergarten up to and including 12th grade are attending class, unless eating or drinking.   All persons must wear a mask when riding on a school bus unless documentation has been submitted to and approved by the school for a medical mask exemption.  For more information, visit www.nkc.org/coronavirus.

Candidate filing began on Tuesday, December 7, at City Hall.  This year’s election is for one Councilmember from Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. Below is a list of the people who have filed as a candidate for elected office in the April 5, 2022 election. Candidates are listed as they are filed. Filing closes at 5 p.m. on December 28, 2021.  The order that the names will appear on the ballot is determined by a lottery drawing which will be completed by the City Clerk after filing has closed. If you have any questions, please contact the City Clerk at 816-412-7815.
