Friday Greetings,

Staff continues to have frequent communications with public health officials and emergency management professionals to monitor and respond to the global COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak.  Staff has added several FAQ pages along with workplace safety and business financial relief information on the City’s Coronavirus information and resource page located at www.nkc.org/coronavirus.

If your business would like to sign up for email updates and helpful COVID-19 financial relief information from the North Kansas City Business Council, please send an email message to richard@nkcbusinesscouncil.com.  Please provide your name, North Kansas City business or non-profit you are affiliated with, e-mail address and phone number (optional).

Due to the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and the Stay at Home Order issued by Mayor Don Stielow and the Clay County Health Department, the Tuesday, April 7 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting will be held virtually, with City Council members and City staff joining the meeting on an online platform.  The public will not be able to participate in the meeting as it is being held, but the public may view the meeting live on the City’s Cable Channel or YouTube channel, which can be found on the City’s website at www.nkc.org/live.

Anyone wishing to make a public comment for the record at the meeting may do so by sending an email to city@nkc.org until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, and it will be read aloud at the meeting.  Please supply your name and address.

Last night, the North Kansas City Fire Department, along with mutual aid partners, extinguished a fire at 901 E 16th Avenue.  Crews were on scene for several hours addressing hotspots.

Residents are reminded to participate in the 2020 U.S. Census, which was recently sent to all households. The invitations include the website address to complete the census online and the toll-free phone number to complete it by phone. It also includes a code that ties your response to your mailing address which ensures your household is counted in the correct community.  For more information visit www.2020census.gov.

Water bills for March were sent out this week. As a reminder, the City has suspended shutoffs due to COVID-19, but penalties will still accrue for late payments.
