Movie in the Park Cancelled
Tonight's Movie in the Park (June 26) has been cancelled due to the weather and cleanup efforts at Macken Park. We are working to reschedule Paddington and will announce the new date soon.
Working Together on Storm Clean-Up
Strong winds came through the City early this morning. The Fire Department was first to respond, by clearing big trees blocking major streets. Municipal Services crews are now working on clearing trees from streets and alleys. There are power outages in the city, so residents are advised to be very cautious as they start work on storm clean-up.
Parks & Recreation is Moving
The Parks & Recreation Department will be relocating out of the NKC Community Center/NKC YMCA and into a new space this week! To facilitate their relocation, please be aware of these important dates:
Movie Night in the Park Rescheduled
Oh no! Our first Movie in the Park of the summer has been rained out! Due to the weather forecast, Big Hero 6 will NOT be shown tonight. This movie will be rescheduled for Saturday, August 8. We hope you will join us then. Stay dry tonight!
Friday Night Concert Series
Friday, June 12th NKC Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the first Friday Night Concert Series featuring Over Drive. The Moose Truck will be on hand to order Mac and Cheese Croquettes, Fish Tacos or a Fried Twinkie.

BOIL ADVISORY OFFICIALLY LIFTED
North Kansas City, Missouri – A Boil Water Advisory in effect for the River Forest neighborhood after a water main break affecting North Kansas City Hospital has been lifted. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources gave the City approval to lift the advisory after water testing showed an absence of total coliform bacteria.

Christmas Tree Collection Program
The Christmas Tree Collection Program begins on Wednesday, January 7th, and continues for three (3) consecutive Wednesdays, ending on January 21, 2015. Christmas trees must have all ornaments removed and be set out for collection by 7:00 a.m.
Yard Waste Collection Program

The Y Would Operate North Kansas City Community Center Under New Proposal
The YMCA of Greater Kansas City and the City of North Kansas City are working on a partnership agreement in which the Y would operate North Kansas City Community Center to better serve the community. North Kansas City Hospital has expressed support for the proposal and interest in collaborating to be the medical wellness partner on site.
October 21 Council Meeting to start at 6pm
Due to the Royals playing the first game of the World Series, the upcoming City Council session on Tuesday October 21, 2014 which normally begins at 7pm will begin 1 hour earlier at 6pm. This is not a permanent change and subsequent City Council Meetings will begin at the regular time of 7pm, unless otherwise noted.

North Kansas City Approves Operations & Maintenance Agreement for Fiber Optic Network
On Tuesday, September 2, the City Council of North Kansas City approved an agreement for the operation and maintenance of the city’s fiber optic network, known as liNKCity, with DataShack, LC. The agreement is the culmination of a process begun in March, when the city solicited proposals for the potential sale or lease of the liNKCity network.

Fireworks Show Cancelled
The City of North Kansas City has announced that the fireworks display scheduled for tomorrow night, June 30, as part of the city's CentennialFest celebration has been cancelled due to concerns about the area's near-drought conditions. Plans are to reschedule the show at a later date.

Wood's Fountain Closed Until Further Notice

New Opt-In Emergency Notification System for North Kansas City
The City has signed up with Nixle, a web-based Emergency Mass Notification system. The system will be used by the city to send out alerts to citizens and business owners during critical public safety events, such as major traffic accidents, terrorism warnings and evacuation notices.

Clay County to Collect 2011 City Property Taxes
The first week of November, North Kansas City’s residents and businesses will receive two rather than four property tax bills. On July 5, 2011, the City Council approved a four year contract with the Clay County Collector to bill and collect North Kansas City’s property taxes beginning with the 2011 tax year.

Water & Sewer Rates
In February 2010, the City Council approved a gradual annual water and sewer rate increase over five years to bring the water and sewer rates in North Kansas City closer to market rates, which will allow the sytems to approach self-sufficiency.

JEFFERSON CITY – State Auditor Tom Schweich announced today his staff will deliver the results of the recently completed petition audit of North Kansas City on Tuesday, October 11. State Auditor Schweich's staff will present the complete audit report and will take questions during a public meeting.
Paseo Industrial District (PID) Street Closure
Taney Street is temporarily closed for approximately 500 feet of emergency street repair in the PID just south of 15th Avenue. The street will be reopened to traffic as soon as conditions are safe for travel. Please follow the posted detour signs and use caution when traveling in this area.

Paseo Industrial District (PID) Street Closure
Yesterday afternoon, a street failure occurred along the southbound lane of Taney Street, just south of East 15th Avenue. This is the second sinkhole that has occurred in the area in the past two weeks caused by high water table in that area. Public Works crews excavated the sunken area and filled the hole, but the area is too wet and unstable to pave at this time.

The City Council of North Kansas City approved a pre-development agreement with LADCO Development on May 17th. The agreement is the next step towards a private-public partnership for a mixed-use redevelopment area consisting of approximately 58 acres located at the southeast quadrant of the I-35 and Armour Road interchange.

National Safe Digging Month is formally recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and has traditionally earned the support of more than 40 state governors across the country. Governor Jay Nixon recently issued a proclamation announcing April as Missouri Safe Digging Month.
